Information You Provide
A name, phone number, or address entered in a search form is sent to the outside provider serving that result experience. Hingham Residents Directory does not retain its own copy of those searches. A message sent to us contains only the information in that message and is used to respond.
Automatic Technical Data
Hosting services create ordinary server logs, such as IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps. Aggregate review helps operate and improve the reference. Cookies or similar tools may support basic analytics and advertising measurement where used.
How Information Is Used
Information is used to run the reference, diagnose problems, understand aggregate traffic, and improve records-routing content. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual user profiles.
External Services
Links lead to municipal, county, state, library, archive, and third-party search resources. The policy of the destination controls information submitted there, including information sent through sponsored result tools supplied by an outside company.
Service-Provider Access
Hosting and support providers process logs on our behalf. Analytics or advertising partners can receive the automatic technical data described above. Disclosure occurs when valid legal process requires it or as otherwise permitted by law.
Safeguards and Retention
The reference uses an encrypted connection, and logs are retained only for the operational purposes described here. Because there are no user accounts, there is no account password or profile maintained by Hingham Residents Directory.
Visitors Under 18
This reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect a minor’s personal information. Contact us if you believe a minor has sent information, and we will remove it.
Your Information Choices
Depending on where a visitor lives, privacy rights may include access, correction, or deletion requests for data a website keeps. Because this reference retains very little, we can check the contact mailbox and available server logs after a request through the Contact page. Massachusetts public records are governed separately by Massachusetts Public Records Law, M.G.L. c.66 §10, and related exemptions in M.G.L. c.4 §7; requests to change an official record belong with its custodian.
Policy Changes
Any revision to this policy will appear here. Continued use after publication of a revision signifies acceptance of the updated policy.
